Shark Evo-One 2 Skuld helmet in red Product Information

The Shark Evo-One 2 is the most recent iteration of Shark’s unique modular concept. It is not a flip-front helmet, where the chin bar can be raised, but is left sitting above the upper rim of the helmet. On the Evo-One, the chin bar rotates through 180 degrees to sit at the back of the helmet. The Roof Boxxer operates similarly, but the Shark package is much more sophisticated. The problem with a flip-lid is that you wouldn’t want to ride in one with the front open, but with the Shark you can because the chin piece tucks away safely out of sight, and out of harm’s way. In our view, the Evo-One is the perfect commuting helmet for those who spend more of their journey riding at less than 50mph than they do at over 60mph. It is a perfectly good full-face helmet, but a brilliantly protective open-face, because it covers so much of the chin. If long distance motorway journeys make up most of your riding, you might be better off with a Shoei or Schuberth flip lid. You can see all of the technical features of the helmet in the bullet points that appear below. For a more in-depth look at the Shark Evo-One 2, read our comprehensive review

Paul Adams: Unique and ticks all the boxes

I had to have a shark 'Evo' crash helmet when I saw a bloke with one on a Triumph RAT run some years ago. The "It's a full face, now it's an open face, now it's a full face again" design really appealed to me, unlike the usual flip tops, which are full face, then something in between only bulky and clumsy. I first bought an Evoline 3, followed by an Evo-One, principally because it was Pinlock ready and cured the misting up of the original. The first incarnation of the Evo-One was good, but, as mentioned in the article written by the Motolegends team, had a few niggles, the most annoying being that the pinlock visor became scratched after about 5 seconds, since the visor auto-lifting-up action when the chin bar is raised was inherently flawed. The Motolegends article stated that the Evo-One 2 version is better and the niggles of 'V1' had been cured, so I went ahead and checked out and then bought an Evo-One 2. Thus far - perfect and, yes, a better version of the Evo-One. I'd like to blow the trumpet for Motolegends - the only site where each item they sell has some (or a lot) of descriptive text and also for the additional 'review' articles on a number of items. This kind of info is distinctively lacking elsewhere. As ever, great customer service when ordering online and nice coffee served at the shop near Guildford too...
